Bandwith is the amount of data that can be passed to and from your site in a given period of time.
How much bandwith will you need each month? That depends on how much traffic you plan to experience on
your site, and how much information (or how many pages) each visitor/user on your site will view, download, or upload.
A fairly large page of information including a good amount of text and images in one
site could be 50Kb, (or about 0.05 Mb). Let's say for example that your site contains 10 web pages and
each web page contains 50Kb, or 0.05Mb of text and image data. If you plan to have 500 visitors coming
to your site to look at all 10 pages once each month, then you will need at least 250Mb of bandwith monthly.
If you are uncertain about how much bandwith you will need, you can just choose an option and buy additional
bandwith as needed at a very reasonable cost. At Icomplus we put no hard limits on bandwith. This means if you
go over your limit by 10% or even 50%, your site will continue to function at a good performance level. We automatically adjust your monthly charge
each month based on bandwith used.
Beware of the "unlimited hits" policy. Every server has physical limits. Companies
that offer "unlimited" data transfer have it written somewhere in fine print their right to terminate
your account at anytime (based on whether or not you use the amount of bandwith that they expect you to).
